Hello Everyone,

I am Arjun, the webmaster of this website. I am a Computer Engineer graduate from NTU and am currently working as a Network Administrator in a French Company. I started website designing as a hobby and out of interest to see how the websites actually worked. I did some simple websites for friends and eventually decided to do something big :p

nearestcarpark.com was born from an idea I got in the early 2005. Back then I was still an undergraduate at NTU just learning the basics of PHP, MySQL and other website programming languages. The idea occured to me after observing that several of my family and friends often took MRT/Buses to city areas or other crowded areas due to the fact that finding a carpark in those areas, which are both cheap and convenient, can be quite a headache.

I had the basic website programming knowledge and I already knew that several "guides" existed for finding out the carpark rates. But I found these sites to be lacking in something. They just provided information to the end user and thats about it. I wanted a site were people will be able to comment on the carparks, see more details about it, be able to search and find out the nearest carparks to the current one and many many more. To do this, I had to create a site by my own.

Thus the project was started on nearestCarpark.com =)
